Yehuda Bauer, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, “On the Holocaust and Other Genocides”
Joseph & Rebecca Meyerhoff Annual Lecture in Rubenstein AuditoriumUnited States Holocaust Memorial Museum

On Thursday evening, October 5, WIP interns gathered in the Rubenstein Auditorium within the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum to hear Yehuda Bauer, from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, speak on the “Holocaust and Other Genocides.” One of the top scholars in the world on this topic, Professor Bauer sits on the Museum’s Academic Committee, is the founding editor of the Museum’s journal Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and wrote many ground-breaking books in the field, including Rethinking the Holocaust (2001). Bauer received the Israel Prize in 1998. A reception followed this annual lecture, which was endowed by Harvey Meyerhoff – a Baltimore philanthropist who was chairman emeritus of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council and whose original donation of six million dollars helped bring into existence this museum and its myriad educational programs.
