American Folk Life Festival on the National Mall

After Independence Day concerts on the steps of the Capitol (featuring entertainers ranging from Stevie Wonder to the National Symphony Orchestra) and fireworks on the forth of July to celebrate America’s 230th birthday, WIP interns were encouraged to attend the annual American Folk Life Festival that reopened on the Mall from Friday, July 7 through Tuesday, July 11. Students sampled the arts, crafts, foods, dance, and other features of American diversity displayed in tents erected on the mall.
